Tupelo Honey Heroes Initiative Launches
By Applauding Buncombe County Teachers

Launching with the beginning of the school year, Tupelo Honey Heroes is a new initiative focusing attention on people, organizations and businesses who are doing their part to make Asheville and Buncombe County a great place to live, work and raise a family.

The first recipients of this honor are teachers at schools in the southern part of county, neighbors to Tupelo Honey Cafe’s south location at 1829 Hendersonville Road -- Reynolds High School, Reynolds Middle School, Estes Elementary, Glen Arden Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Cane Creek Middle School, Valley Springs Middle School and T.C. Roberson High School.

Each school will receive 10 $50 gift certificates to Tupelo Honey Cafe as well as 10 of the restaurant’s cookbooks to be given once a month to a teacher, all as a way of saying thank you.

"Our south location is a neighborhood gathering place," said Steve Frabitore, Tupelo Honey Cafe's owner. "We have lots of students, parents, teachers and school administrators who are our frequent customers. With the budget tightening and the stretching of resources in our public schools, we wanted to demonstrate how much we appreciate the hard work of teachers in these South Buncombe schools," said Steve Frabitore, Tupelo Honey Cafe's owner. "We are also appreciative of the support for our restaurant and are proud to be a part of the South Asheville community. We simply wanted to give back."

The Tupelo Honey Heroes initiative will be an ongoing effort and encourages nominations of people making a difference in the Asheville community. Anyone wishing to nominate an individual, organization or business should send their suggestions to info@tupelohoneycafe.com.

One of Asheville’s most iconic restaurants, Tupelo Honey Cafe is renowned for its New South cuisine, its fun and whimsical ambience, and its commitment to community. The restaurants and its employees are also known for paying it forward, one of the organization’s core values.
