In conjunction with the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project’s Get Local campaign and Western North Carolina’s Sunburst Trout, Tupelo Honey Cafe’s south Asheville location will celebrate our Blue Ridge Mountains’ native fish with “Trout on Tuesdays” throughout the month of February.
Members of Asheville Independent Restaurant Association were asked to focus on one local food or food product each month, and Tupelo Honey Cafe decided to highlight trout. The restaurant, located at 1829 Hendersonville Road, will feature trout specials each Tuesday in February with net proceeds from each trout entree sold on those days benefitting ASAP.
Tupelo Honey Cafe’s Trout on Tuesdays will feature the following specials and special events:
February 7 – Kick-off dinner event will feature trout two ways, with kids eating trout for free. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with remarks from Sunburst Trout CEO Sally Eason and ASAP Executive Director Charlie Jackson. A drawing will also be held for four $50 gift certificates from Tupelo Honey and two complimentary passes from Navitat.
February 14 – A romantic trout dinner will be offered and will include a complimentary glass of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. A drawing will be held for an overnight stay at Montford’s Pinecrest Bed and Breakfast.
February 21 – The evening’s focus will be for kids 12 and under with a trout coloring contest. Competition will be for three age groups: age 5 and under, ages 6 to 8 years and ages 9 to 12. Winners will be selected at 8 p.m. and the winners will receive a $50 Tupelo Honey gift certificate as well as a gift of $500 for their schools. Home-schooled winners will take home a $500 prize for home-schooling parents.
February 28 – The restaurant will again offer trout prepared two ways that evening. A silent auction from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. will be held with the auction item being a private dinner party – complete with wines and fresh trout — for up to 8 people to be held in the winner’s home. Proceeds from the auction will benefit ASAP.
